There’s No Place Like Home!

For the hundreds of kids, teens, and adults who use the ATCO Performing Arts Centre (APAC) each week, this building in Calgary’s southeast has become a safe space and a second home. It’s a place where people can learn, grow and express themselves through song and performance. In music parlance, “Crescendo” refers to a gradual and steady increase in loudness or force. Just like a crescendo, Youth Singers of Calgary is set to amplify its impact in the community. With your support, this goal will become reality!

We Need Your Help

The goal of Crescendo is to bring the already successful ATCO Performing Arts Centre into the public trust, making it a permanent community performing arts space in Calgary. Hard work and dedication transformed an empty warehouse into a vibrant performing arts facility. Now, with your support, we can make it our forever home as well as ensure its availability and affordability to the dozens of groups that use it now and for all who have yet to pass through the doors.

Case For Support

In 2009, YSC opened the doors to the ATCO Performing Arts Centre (APAC) after investing $1.8 million to renovate an 18,000 sq. ft. warehouse located just outside of Calgary’s city centre. Since then, an additional $350,000 has been invested into facility improvements and amenities. With four studios of varying sizes, wardrobe and sets workshops, meeting rooms, performance equipment and much more, APAC has proven to be a valuable and well utilized community arts space for both YSC and many local and visiting community arts groups.

This is the next phase of a project that began in 2008 when YSC took out a lease on a light industrial warehouse and began transforming the space into the ATCO Performing Arts Centre. Together membership and community partners converted the empty warehouse into a vibrant and much needed arts space. Now YSC wants to own the building to ensure a permanent home not only for themselves, but for the myriad of community arts groups, present and future, that benefit from an affordable and well appointed performing arts facility.
