Breya Hardy

Choreographer ENCORE | Manager ENCORE | Guest Choreographer SECOND CHANTS

For the past 24 years, Breya has been teaching, performing, choreographing, directing and adjudicating for dance studios, schools, community organizations, film production companies, competitions and festivals throughout North America. Breya grew up training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Piano. Upon moving to Calgary in her teens, she expanded her training into Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Swing and West African Dance. Breya joined Youth Singers in 2000 as a performer and quickly joined the Artistic Team as a Choreographer and Vocal Coach for the KIDZXPRESS, JUNIOR HI, and KIDS & MUSIC divisions.

While in University Breya studied Dance, Theatre Arts, Music Performance, Music Education and West African Drumming, earning her Bachelors in Community Rehabilitation which has allowed her to combine her passion for music and dance with her passion for therapeutic arts. During her undergrad, Breya completed her ADAPT Jazz/Tap Instructor certification and developed one of the first music and movement therapy programs in Calgary for children with special needs. Her program quickly branched into school boards throughout Alberta and in 2004 she opened a studio that specialized in foundational dance, triple threat training and therapeutic performance art for children and youth with all abilities. Soon after, Breya began teaching Therapeutic Riding, Equine Dance therapy and Musical Ride for local barns.

A lifelong student, Breya is currently completing a double MEd in Waldorf Education and Transdisciplinary Studies in Healing Education as well as working towards her iARTe certification. Breya’s love for the arts is contagious and reflects in her energetic teaching style. She continually strives to give her students, young and not so young, not only a strong foundation in the arts, but the tools, skills and inspiration to excel in their lives outside of the studio. She is thrilled to be back on the YSC team and to share her passion for music and dance with every student that walks through her door.
