Resident Choreographer JUNIOR HI
(She/her) At age 4, Jessica joined the Youth Singers of Calgary program which sparked her love of the performing arts. This is where she started to build her passion for singing, dancing, and acting. Growing up through the program she had the pleasure of travelling and performing all over the world including across Europe, South America, and the United States. Jessica now has a Performance Diploma from Mount Royal University (Calgary) and a BFA from Concordia University (Montreal) where she graduated with great distinction and was awarded the Music Prize; given to the most outstanding music graduate of the graduating class. Jessica was thrilled to rejoin the artistic staff team at Youth Singers upon moving back home to Calgary so she could be part of teaching the next generation of singers through the YSC program. Jessica has spent her whole life pursuing dance and acting in addition to her musical studies. Her true love is musical theatre, but she has been trained in many other styles. She is an active theatre performer, private voice and theory teacher, and choreographer around Calgary. Most notably of late, Jessica was in the world premiere concert production of the musical Ragtime with Theatre Calgary, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and Arts Commons. She also performed in the world premiere production of the musical Brave Girl at Lunchbox Theatre co-produced with Forte Musical Theatre Guild which earned 2 Betty Mitchell Award nominations. Throughout her time teaching with Youth Singers she has had the pleasure of being on the choreography staff for JUNIOR HI, KIDS & MUSIC, ENCORE, and SECOND CHANTS, as well as co-directed ONCUE. Jessica believes that sharing music with others, through teaching or performing, is one of the best experiences in life.
