Kathy has been involved in Calgary’s choral music scene since 1976 after moving to Calgary from Saskatchewan (Go Riders!). She was accompanist and occasional contralto soloist for the Calgary Choral Society and was the accompanist for the Dutch Canadian Choir when they performed for the Queen in 1978. She was also involved with the Calgary Boys Choir as Stage Manager and Music Editor.

Kathy has worked with vocal coaches Tim Carson and Blaine Chapmen, has studied choral conducting with Dr. Gary Bonner and has been privileged to have sung in a choir directed by the late Dr. Howard Swan. She was also founder and performer with United Sisters, a small women’s singing and dancing ensemble, who, for more than 15 years, performed throughout Alberta. From 1982-2019 she was involved in music at Central United Church, most recently as Music, Worship and Communications Director and had the privilege of conducting a 50+ voice choir and full orchestra every Christmas.

An accomplished accompanist and musician, Kathy’s involvement with Youth Singers began in 1997 and has included editing, arranging, directing, and accompanying. Kathy Is married to Rob, has two adult sons and has an adorable Maltese-Shitzu named Karob and Pug/Biewer Terrier named Mocha.
